Redbull X-Fighters 2015
The Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour will stop in Pretoria for the second time from the 11 - 12 September 2015. The much-hyped FMX event will take place at the iconic site of the Union Buildings in the heart of the Jacaranda city.
The RedBull X-Fighters World Tour begins in Mexico City, follow on to Athens, Madrid, Pretoria and ends for the first time in the United Arab Emirates in October.
The 2015 Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour is shaping up to be the most exciting championship battle after a total of 50 previous events in 14 seasons. Defending champion Josh Sheehan who was crowned World Tour Champion in front of a sold out crowd in 2014, will be up against three ex champs determined to end the Australia's reign on top of with their bags of new tricks.
There have been five different winners in the last five years and four will participate in this 2015 battle. Tom Pagès of France (2013 World Tour Champion), Levi Sherwood of New Zealand (2012), Spain's Dany Torres (2011) and the current World Tour champion Josh Sheehan of Australia will be flipping and flying their way around the world in pursuit of an elusive second title.
Sheehan vaulted into the FMX history books with the Double Backflip, there were new spectacular tricks and a heart-stopping championship battle that went down to the final round in 2014. The Australian capped a remarkable come-from-behind upset of Sherwood, who had won the first two stops in 2014 in Mexico City and Osaka, on the
strength of his two breathtaking victories in the final two stops in Munich and Pretoria. Pagès set a new standard for FMX when he completed a Bike Flip in front of the ecstatic Spanish crowd. Pushing the top four on will be Taka Higashino (JPN), Remi Bizouard (FRA) and Adam Jones (USA) among others.
The Pretoria stop in September will see 22 000 motocross fans thronging the seat of Government to witness the world's most prestigious freestyle motocross series featuring new and old champions, mind-boggling tricks and a truly unique atmosphere. The event will include the FMX races, prize giving, a surprise live performance and an after party.
